Your figure of $1000 a month is about right for an older FC if you are lucky enough not to get into a MAJOR repair. That number is about what it cost me to own my 1973 FC for eighteen months. I essentially "gave away" my improvements. Had I purchased a newer coach I might have lost about the same in depreciation. Hindsight is always 20-20. My suggestion Esmi, is to buy what you want, because you will not be happy until you get it (if you are anything like me). You can check into and evaluate coaches until you are blue in the face but if it isn't what you REALLY want then what have you accomplished.

Now that all being said. I wasn't ready two years ago to buy a PT. They in my estimation were too large, too complex and too expensive (or so I thought) for me to jump into. It's again a personality thing. I had to tip toe into the pool call Bluebird at the shallow end when in retrospect I should have dived into the deep end. A fellow has to take his own path. Just consider all of this as you look at coaches because from my experience it's just as important as anything else we can help you with.

You've talked about a 31 FT FC and I have suggested that if that's what you want that's what you should buy. If you are compromising your wants to be practical and save money, just know from my experience it might cost you more when it's all said an done. A fellow should know his own mind, I don't always seem to know mine. Trying to help, knowing that I might be making it more confusing for you in the short term.

Look for something that YOU feel comfortable with. I love the look of the FC35's, they are too short for me (I'm 6'2") and I wound up with a terrific '98 LX 40, I still like the looks of the FC, I just can't justify having two. Then again... .

Mike,
I live about 50 miles from this coach and used to own an FC(which is also for sale).
If you want, I can meet you there or inspect for you.

Steve would be an excellent choice to either help you inspect the coach, or to do a thorough inspection for you, he knows how to properly maintain his 'Bird and once you saw it (who could miss it? ) you would understand what I'm talking about!!

Jim did you look at a forward control with cruiseairs in it with nothing on the ceiling. I believe they have at least as much headroom as your coach now?

For those who are in the market, there is a new listing of a nice looking 1980 FC 35 on e-bay. Sounds like it has been maintained, updated and documented. It appears to be located just west of Quartzsite.

Austin,

I would further check to find out if the bird was in the flood area.

also there is a Wanderlodge RV tech person near-by in Oklahoma.

Ralph may be familiar with this Bird or could inspect it for you.

I am 6'2", I got the needed head room by changing the tired old orange shag for wood laminate. We netted almost 3/4". I can scuff my head on the AC's, but since she is a 33', we do not have a middle unit. Later model WB's are cavernous in comparison; however.

It wasn't so much the headroom in the coach as the shower I had to stoop and the shower head hit me about mid back. That and the fact that my wife had to struggle (2 bad hips) to get into the co-pilots seat. I still like the looks of the FC but somebody around here thinks one Bird is enough.
