Using Abbreviations In Your Posted Messages And What They Mean
I know that with all of the text messaging that is going on now days, it is OK to use abbreviations, or just letters for complete words, I would suggest that when you are posting a message on the forum, that there are some of us OLD DOGS that have enough of a problem just getting to and reading the forum, that when there are abbreviations used it makes it even harder to understand what you are talking about, especially for the newbies that don't necessarily understand the LINGO that we use. Keep in mind this will not help when it comes to reading Randy's posted messages, that will take a whole new topic to cover that subject ![]() So I'm suggesting that as a reply to this message, please list some of the abbreviations that you use, or if you have a question about an abbreviation that you have seen used on the forum ask about it here. Once it shows up as a reply to this message. I will add it to the list below and then in order to keep this particular message at the top of this thread, after we update the list with your additional abbreviation of a term, we will delete your original message, so that when a person comes here to find an abbreviated term they won't have to scroll up or down the page to find the list. Thanks to the Vintage 'Birds http://www.vintagebirds.com/history2.htm#terms for the list below; BMC - Blue Bird Motor Coach FC - Forward Control which designates the engine is mounted in the front of the unit. TPI = threads per inch. Used when describing the thread of a bolt. For instance 20 TPI means 20 threads per inch. A thread gauge is normally used to determine the TPI.
