Racor filter/water separator

If it has a sight bowl at the bottom, it is covered with grease & dirt,
Is there a Racor gage on the upper dash??? I think the Sp gage reads negative vacuum only when there is a suction problem, If it rests at zero , things should be OK.

Hey there guys,

I solved my filter problem.... It is a water-separator, even though it is not a Racor. I am uncertain of the type, but it contained a large fleetguard filter that simply sits in the large black container, submerged in fuel. The large canister has an air purge at the top that also serves as a bolt/nut to fasten the canister and filter to the filter housing. There is an o-ring as well. No T-handle. I never noticed a brand name. The Wix filter of the same type was almost $40. I will have to do a comparision with the racor and determine if it would be worth switching it out. I am interested in returning to an original Racor filter system by the tank as a previous owner has removed and replaced with something else.

The RACOR filter had also been removed from my 'Bird so Randy had this DAHL / BALDWIN water separator filter that he had laying around and we installed it and also we moved the CAT fuel filter out of the doghouse and placed it along side of the DAHL / BALDWIN, so you may want to think twice about spending unnecessary funds to go back to the RACOR as long as your present water separator filter is doing the job and filters are still available for it.

Since my 'Bird did not come equipped with a FACET fuel pump, we added a Carter electric fuel pump up near the filters and placed an additional switch for it there, so that when changing filters I could just turn on the switch right there to prime both filters, it works great and is less messy as well.
