My 110 compressor is running, but no air is building up in the
tank. Does this mean I need a rebuild kit and if so do they make a rebuild. Tahnks Donny Goodwin 2003 LXI |

I don't know LXI's but aux air pumps are aux air pumps. Is it a GAST? Does it have two pistons extending on either side with a couple of sponge filters attached? It should be about 3/4 hp if it is similar mine. 110v
Will the system build and hold air with the engine running? My GAST builds up all the air, brakes, aux etc. It takes a little while. Just thought of something else. Are your dump switches in the correct position. You may need to turn on the key and flip the switch to get the valve in the correct position. Cycle them and try again. You may be pumping air out through the air bags.

Found the problem after taking off the covering on the compressor

What Donny just found is interesting, my compressor was starting to come on every 20 minutes when parked. I started trouble shooting the issue; what I found was that I had a whole series of air leaks. One of them (2 depending on how your count) were the air cylinders for the dump valves and 2 were the air switches for the dump valves. Other than that I had to replace 7 quick disconnects.
Some of those were on the 1/8" air control valves for the front fresh air vents and were very hard to find. Another was on the air cylinder for the step. One quick tip; when you replace the fitting, be sure to cut back the hose just past the small area where the quick connect grips the hose. This is only about an 1/8 to 1/4" but if you don't cut if off you're likely to have another leak. You can get this fittings from any store that handles Parker-Hannifin fittings. OK, one more tip; there are two types of quick disconnects, one is rather inexpensive and is OK to use, the other is DOT approved and used for air brake lines and the like. This one has a sleve that goes into the hose and is made of high quality brass/copper, I spent the additional couple of bucks for the extra quality. While parked and closing the step well cover ever night, my compressor now comes on every 48 hours, or so.

Does anyone know of a replacement pump for the auxillary 110 pump on a 2003 LXI so I would not have to go thru Bluebird, also the 12 volt microphor pump.

You can buy the compressor direct from Microphor. Unfortunately, they're almost $300. I had a pinhole leak in my tank. Welded it up and it works pretty well. Several members have replaced theirs, so you may be able to get one used. You can get some parts from places like Graingers. I got a brush assembly for mine there.

I forgot to add that the toilet pump is a Thomas Wobble pump, (a #405ADC38/12, from their site). They are permanently lubricated with no real rebuildable parts. From the looks of the design, they shouldn't need it. As long as it runs, it should build pressure. Their website is www.gd-thomas.com. You can find everything about the pumps there. There should be an air shut off valve just under the tank lid of your toilet. Shutting it off will allow you to isolate where the air leak is- either in the toilet or on the compressor side. Once I did that, I found mine was on the compressor side. I then shut off the output of the compressor (the red knob just below the pressure switch on the compressor). That isolated out the line from the compressor to the shut off valve in the toilet. After happening to be working on her when things were really quiet I heard the air slowly leaking out and found a pinhole in the bottom bend of the tank. Fixed that and things were good to go. Of course, what started all this was the compressor burned up the brush overload system. I had to replace that first, to get the compressor to run enough to get pressure to build some. I rebuilt by Thomas pump in about 2 hours. The maintenance kit is about $80 and includes new piston and piston shaft, new flapper valves etc. and screws.
