Today we replaced the compressor on my front topside Dometic using the same (AKA5512EXA Tecumseh). The run and start capacitors recommended for the new one were not the same as on the old unit. The old unit had a dual 35/10 run capacitor, and 35 start capacitor. What was recommended (and what I ordered) were 25uf, both run and start. However the new run capacitor was not a dual run, so we just came off one of the terminals on the start capacitor (white wire) with another lead to a separate 10uf capacitor and put the blue fan wire to the other terminal on it.
The compressor was an almost perfect replacement (for tubing, etc) and works great. The baseplate came right off the old one and was easy to replace with the springpiece that came included. Quieter than the old one, too.
I did order mine from buildinghvac.com for $285, but today I was looking on the internet and found them for $232 at temperaturesupplyinc.com. I don't know why I didn't see that the first time around, but was still happy with the service from buildinghvac. I'd much rather do the compressor replacement and keep all of the old inside trim and control pieces than try to retrofit a whole new unit.
