Corey I just recently pulled my entire exhaust system out through the roof and replaced the elbow that connects directly to the bottom of the muffler as well as the SS 'expansion' length (18 inches). My primary purpose in writing this email it to let you know something I observed about my muffler. The top has a rounded end to help shed rain water. The bottom is flat with a ridge that if inverted would act like a reservoir resulting in rust through. I'm not suggesting you'd mix up top from bottom but there are a lot of mufflers out there that don't have that convex top and come with two flat ends. Just something to keep in mind.

Here is one possibility, that is more remote, but worth considering if the muffler doesn't fix it. You said, after a while you loose boost, and also the bedroom is HOT.

If your engine is overheating the DDEC will derate the engine. Do you have a VMSPC to see what the actual signals coming out of the DDEC are, or are you just monitoring the guages.

I'm in Fort Worth, and if you want to borrow my PC and the software to see what the engine temps and boost are then email me It's already set up for the series 60 in my Newell.

Richard,

Thank you very much for that offer, and if I cant get this thing running right with the new exhaust, I will contact you and take you up on that. I am interested in getting set up with the software to do so anyhow, so that would be a great opportunity to test drive it so to speak. Thanks very much for the kind offer!

I note that before I replaced my (completely shot) muffler, that the bedroom was warm -- and smelled of diesel fumes. (I suggest getting a Carbon Monoxide detector for the bedroom!) Once the new muffler was installed, the bedroom got cooler -- and the diesel exhaust smells went away.

I had my muffler replaced by CCW at Riverside -- it was expensive, cost of parts (and freight) was over $1000. The "problem" is that the Series 60, as installed by Blue Bird, uses 6" exhaust components and the maximum size generally available is 5" exhaust components. So, gold-plated part (prices) are applicable.

I might have saved some, had I been able to pay for slower freight, but I was "with" my coach in Riverside and there was a time-pressure issue.

I believe that the muffler is actually for a Cummins engine. Since I'm on the road, I don't think I have the actual part number, but if you need it, I can search the records I have with me to see if I do have the part number from the invoice.
