Default Blue Sky Notice

We just received notice from Blue Sky that RLI will no longer be offering recreational vehicle insurance. Has anyone else received this notice & do you have any suggestions for coverage? I have a restored '83 Blue Bird Wanderlodge in FL. Thanks for any suggestions.

There has been a couple of threads on here that discusses this. I am surprised you just got your notice. Most of us with Blue Sky received notice early this year. I shopped around and got slightly better coverage with slightly lower rates with General Interstate Insurance. A number of Insurance Agencies are underwriters for them but my best rate came from Triumphe Causality Company in St. Pete.

We just received our letter from Blue Sky for cancellation on our BB and on our Winnebago. However our agent here in NJ shopped another carrier and Progressive came in cheaper on both units so we are better off with Progressive's quote. From what I have seen Blue Sky's underwriter is not offering the recreational policy's anymore, good luck. There are many forum posts on here regarding other carriers. Good luck..

Just got my non renewal notice. Looks like they are waiting to send them out around the time the annual renewal notice would have gone out. Time to start shopping around.

I went with Progressive through FMCA.
I opted for minimal insurance priced right.

Same as everyone else here. Blue sky lost the RV underwriter and had to drop people. They are or have agents to sell Progressive and some other brands I'm not sure if going directly to the company saves you anything. Seems like Progressive has decent rates.

Default Agreed Value Coverage from Progressive

We previously had Blue Sky, but left a year ago. I went through USAA to Progressive. They offer Agreed Value and here is the wording from the policy FYI:

INSURING AGREEMENT - AGREED VALUE COVERAGE

If you pay the premium for this coverage for a covered vehicle, then subsection 1. of the Limits of Liability provision under this Part IV shall not apply and the following provision shall apply to a loss to that covered vehicle:

1. The limit of liability for a loss to a covered vehicle for which Agreed Value Coverage was purchased is as follows:
a. for a loss that we determine is a total loss to a covered vehicle, our limit of liability
is the agreed value for that covered vehicle reduced by the applicable
deductible; and
b. for a loss that we determine is not a total loss to a covered vehicle, our limit
of liability is the lowest of:
(i) the actual cash value of the stolen or damaged property at the time of the
loss reduced by the applicable deductible;
(ii) the amount necessary to replace the stolen or damaged property reduced
by the applicable deductible;
(iii) the amount necessary to repair the stolen or damaged property to its preloss
condition reduced by the applicable deductible; or
(iv) the agreed value for that covered vehicle reduced by the applicable
deductible

Yes Neal, that is what the wording is. But there is an age restriction not noted there. That is the issue. First thing my agent said to me when I told him we needed to shop around.
