Having that cover does keep a little more dirt off the front pump seal in the transmission. Why it's not really needed, it's not bad to have either. You could simply take a flat piece of appropriately sized metal, drill a hole on each end and bolt it in place.

John,

Sounds like you had a productive few days project there. Let us know if the new shocks and I'm assuming that you had the kingpins lubed also, made any difference in the handling of your 'Bird, all of that sure made a difference in my 'Bird.

Default Handling

John, Everything that I have done has helped in increments. It's hard to say that any one thing has been turned a corner but my suspicion is that my bus rides and handles about as well as well as a 1973 FC can. Personally I think it's fine right now. I would like some of you other FC owners to drive the Napper and give me your opinions. The biggest benefit came with the air suspended seats but you know I've replace tires, tie-rods, shocks, front end alignment, lubrication and the previous owner had the steering box rebuilt so it should be in pretty good shape. I don't believe I am going to replace the springs and shackles unless some of you more experienced owners would direct me to do so. I don't think the springs are that deteriored at this point and it would run in excess of 3K to do that. Some of us are getting together next month at Hershey and hopefully I will be at Maxton in the spring. When ever we cross paths again I would like opinions as to where I am and if and what is next. I don't have anything to compare too.

Shane and I took in the RV show at the Giant center in Hershey yesterday and I feel much better about the money I've invested in the BB after looking at the quality and especially the prices of the new SOB Class A's. I was pretty much underwelmed with just about everything we looked at. Only thing that I thought was interesting was the renegade stuff and for the money I'd still take half of that and buy a mid nineties BB and have the balance for fuel.
