Default Bendix Cruise Control

I am looking for a CC-5 Throttle Control Valve or valve repair kit for my '84PT35. I noticed that I had to press the throttle a long way to get any throttle response. Started investigating and found that the CC-5 valve is leaking air.

I have looked around on the Web for a source since Bendix does not make the valve any more and then called Bendix. The repair kit is back ordered since it has to be built (60-90 days). Any suggestions on where to find a valve or kit?

try Brake & Clutch Supply, Seattle Wa, 800-542-0782
Check this part number I think it is the repair kit, 102315

If it is leaking , there is just a few O rings in the cylinder, try taking it apart clean, lube and replace the O rings.

Thanks for the contact. They did not have either valve or kit. The kit has to be built by Bendix. I did order the kit through Fleet Pride.

I will try cleaning the valve. My concern is that the Bus runs now and if I take tha valve apart it may not run when I get done. But, I do not want to get stranded if I put it off and then the seals let go.

In this photo the big box on the upper left says Bendix on it. I am assuming that it is part of the cruise control system. Is this correct.

I think that the device on the lower right is a valve and I think it is leaking air. Is this the CC valve you mention?

Were you able to get a repair/replacement?

Then here is the big if. If there are NO air leaks the system should hold pressure and stay up on the air bags indefinitely? This is a big IF.

Is there a good diagram of the air system. I have found one but it isn't the whole diagram and is pretty faint and hard to read.

After a good bit of searching I found your thread on the Bendix CC. Now I am sure that what is leaking is the RV-1 pressure reducing valve.

I have found that they appear to be a pretty common part. Any caveats on replacing it?

If it is leaking could there be something else at play?

Mine wasn't that reliable, so I went with King Controls cruise control.
Better unit, I think.

Dave and Paul, if you are going to rats later this month, look me up and maybe I can be of some help to you. In trying to trouble shoot my Bendix CC system. I too found that valve was leaking and was able to get it replaced at a place here in louisville called "AC Brake". They ordered the valve from Bendix and it arrived 2 days later UPS !! It didn't solve my problem of my CC not working, but it did stop an air leak at that particular valve. Later on this morning I will try to locate my receipt and any info I still have on this valve.

I still have a day job so.......

I will also replace that valve if nothing else to plug an air leak.

Is the idle up switch on the dash a function provided by the cruise control? The Bendix information seems to indicate that it could be. If it is and the CC-5 actuator is how the idle up is applied then that is another piece of the puzzle.

However right now I need to plug the air leak.
