Default 95 43' Hydrolic Fan motor

Anyone know who makes the hydrolic fan motor used on a 95 s60 cooling fan / power steering pump system??? Mine has developed a "weep / seep right at the fan bearing" so I guess a new motor or seal is required. Anyone done this job before or have any insight on how difficult / time wise??? I will "farm this out" and am trying get a handle on labor and parts estimate as I am currently "in the coach" and have no means to do this job on the road, thanks
PS I already searched the other 2 forums and will be calling Earl at BB parts later this week, early next week, just seeing if anyone on list has experience / insight on this. I also already talked with Jessie.... gave me great info / advice but in my haste not to bug him because he is so busy I forgot to ask who made the motor so I could do a little online research on it,DUH!!!!!!!!
PSS Dave Brady I am currently in Asheville area still... since this is your home turf do you have a line on a shop that could do this job??? Otherwise I'll wait and have it done either at home or on my way home at BB in Ft Valley, but if you have a good shop up here, am willing to give them a try, thanks

Default Hydraulic Motor

Replaced twice on my 96 Wanderlodge. I think manufacturer is Sauer Sundstrand. Seal replacement not a do it yourself job- dangerously high pressures. Stranded us for 4 days in Florence, SC. Good Luck Don

i had a fan motor seeping on an 84pt40 i had,it seeped for years before it started dripping.
when it started dripping i removed it and rebuilt it myself.
at that time i had to get the seal kit from BB,the kit was $200 and its a real simple job to rebuild it.

i have 2 of those fan motors here,at my shop, used and they may be leakers.

woody and I changed one of those fan motors for a guy passing through one time,it was so hot we both got burns on our hands and arms,we did the job without pulling the radiator out,it had a massive oil leak, like 10 gals in 30 miles.
we were covered in hot oil.
we did it in less than two hours.

I'm not as ambitious as Randy, but I found a local guy how rebuilt mine for $150.00 and I had a local mechanic change it out for another $100 or so.

I just replaced my fan motor for the same leak problem. The tech installed the hoses backwards and blew out my pump. They paid for all the work but it was not a simple job.

Randy, thanks for the "insight", if I was in Florida right now I would pay you and your "team" to do this for me but I know how busy you are with the "ice house" ! :-) BTW congrats on the "new to you bird". Good year! :-) if I can help, please let me know but you are the expert! I have collected about 50 MB of manuals files, etc for the 95's subsystems with an s60 and 4060HD. I was going to make a CD of it for John at RATS so he could post it, I'll make 2 and give you one there, all PDF's of manuals I searched and "scrounged" off the various MFG technical websites, some no longer available for the past 3 years.
Lance, thanks for the "sizing", just what I needed
Tommy, thanks for the "story", yeah that's exactly what I am afraid of with an unknown shop, even a "trusted one" can make mistakes, glad things worked out for you. Between you, Don, and I, guess its "time" for our years' coaches to have this issue, or we are all just lucky!!!!!!
I am currently in the Asheville area and was planning to stay up here out of the way of hurricanes until RATS. I found out yesterday Earl only works Mondays and Tuesdays now so I will give him a call and try and get some parts. When I spoke with Jessie day before last, he indicated like Randy, if it is not "pouring our" while running, most deal with the "seep/ weep" until they don't want to wash the oil off the toad anymore, then get it fixed. I've been very diligent cleaning that "fan" blade each season, very carefully, so it would not go out of balance due to the "dirt" and cause that bearing and seal to fail Hummmm oh well, so much for preventative maintenance! Mine just started to "seep" about an ounce or so every time you "shutdown" and appears not to leak while running. I am giving it a good run this weekend, it it "stays tight" under load, I am going to try and get this fixed near home, otherwise I will have to "deal with it up here". Haven't heard from Dave Brady yet but I have a line on a heavy line truck place here in Canton, so am going to check them out next week. I also do not want to get "stuck" like Don.......never any fun.........Will report later on whats going on, final fix, etc, this way others will now have a "hydraulic" thread to refer to, all thanks again, have a nice weekend!

I'm having the same leak on my 96/S60. I have not done anything yet, but I am getting really annoyed with the oil splatter wrapping up on the back of the coach. It sure makes the coach look old and neglected almost immediately. I am curious to see how your repair goes, so keep us posted. I try and do most everything I can myself, but it sounds like this one may be better left to the professionals! Good Luck to ya'!!

Corey,
Will do, thanks, yeah Woody and Randy are "experts" in my book with tons of heavy line truck experience and this is actually "Woody's calling". I'm like you....was thinking about doing this one but thanks to Don providing me the MFG brand I was able to "scrounge" a technical PDF on these motors, design spec, how to size, PM,etc. Don was right, they carry VERY HIGH PSI 2000-3000 under load so I am going to let someone experienced do this to avoid what happened to Tommy, meaning if I screw up I pay and those pumps ain't cheap new, I don't know the model number yet as I have not scraped the **** off it to get it, will do this weekend, but they run 750- over a grand new.....depending on model..... on the internet not to mention correct high pressure orings, brittle hoses, blah, blah, blah....... you get the drift........ and I know Randy was able to do a PT without removing the radiator but I do not believe it was an s60 and if they have to do that (don't know)......well heck, might as well rod it,blah, blah 13 years old and do the labor only once.... not a job you can do while you are "living" in the coach"...... I am hoping they can sneak it in...............
