I purchased a new propane detector with a single remote sensor to replace the one under the refrigerator, which no longer worked.
Here is where I got it, they do have an interesting product span, but the price was lowest including shipping. http://www.fitzz.com/Fume-and-Fire-D...on_c_1435.html I was able to re-use the original solenoid valve which made it a lot easier. The new detector mounts in a 2 inch round hole like a guage. It has two touch areas. One for silencing the alarm and one for engaging the solenoid . Below is a sequence of pictures showing the cable running process.

Nice job and an even better job of explaining it. Thanks

For those with malfunctioning or non-functioning propane detection systems such as the old Marshall Brass units, I was able to purchase a new 2 sensor capable unit of the same manufacturer as Gardner's for $75 on Ebay. It is a Xintex SA-2 that lists for at least three times that price.
The one listed now is item number 390123859815. It comes with one sensor. An additional sensor (MS-2)can be bought at www.keenzo.com for about $50. Search for "Xintex sensor". I also found Safe-T-Alert propane detectors, wired 12v alarm/only for about $65 for two. With all of the recent talk about fires in coaches I think a good look at everything that could be a potential problem should be given a second look.

Dan,
The one thing to remember wiht this unit is that the it powers up with the propane disabled. If you disconnect the batteries you will need to remember to push the on button. There are two green lights, one says the power is on, one says the propane is on. Red is a problem. Also after re-reading my post, I discovered that I didn't replace the shutoff solenoid after all, so per your private question, I don't know what size the connectors were.

Thanks Gardner,
I looked closer at your pictures and it doesn't appear to be as big as 1/2" or as small as 1/4"......so I am guessing it is most likely 3/8. I did see that the Xintex unit will only power a solenoid drawing 1 amp or less, and I found a 3/8 inlet/outlet solenoid that operates in that range. Anyone else out there know what inlet/outlet size is on your FC's shut off solenoid in the rear of the fridge ? Thanks again
