Default Propane furnace problem

I have one propane furnace which isn't working. I got into the furnace and found it to be clean and healthy looking. There is spark from the igniter. Is there something I am missing? The tube which contains the igniter is clean no rust and I do have propane in the tank. (other heaters work) I think for some reason gas flow is being restricted to this furnace. Any ideas before I submit to shop time at the RV store. This is on my PT36 And yes I know there is a shut off valve on top of the furnace. It seems to open and closed OK. Wonder if the valve isn't working? That would seem doubtful. Just seeing if there is a simple stupid something I can fix. I have some time on my hands and since Woody and Randy don't seem to need help I thought I'd see if I could hold up my end on the BB repairs. I mean if those two can do it why not me. Yes and I know I'll turn the gas off so I don't blow my you know what up. It seems to me the furnace isn't getting sufficient propane flow but what would be causing that?

John,

Does it have power? Is the blower running and no heat? Do you hear a clicking sound? If this is the case, try cleaning and resetting the electrodes.

John, In case you don't have the service manual, I just sent it off to you via e-mail.

From service manual:

"If the electrode sparks and the valve opens but the burner will not light, check the gas supply for 11" WC pressure to the main burner office. If 11" is present to the valve but not to the orifice, replace the valve. Check vent and air intake installation. Check the main burner for correct relationship to the electrode assembly (burner should be 3/16" from the spark probe and sawports or charge ports directly under the spark gap). Check main burner for soot build-up in ports (see Figure 8). Clean cast-iron burners bypassing a hacksaw blade through the sawports, being careful not to enlarge the openings. Wire brush stainless tube burners to remove build-up."

John,
There are also several safety mechanisms in there. A high temp cutoff, a sail switch that closes when there is sufficient air flow, and of course the gas solenoid.

On my FC there are additional shut off valves in the distrubution area behind the refrigerator access panel outside.

Thanks Bill and Gardner, I can see that I am or would be in over my head on this one. Discretion is the better part of valor and with that in mind I will gladly pay to have the local RV place trouble shoot this. I just thought that there might be something simple which I could "handle". As you two can testify to I can, given the opportunity, screw something up (especially electrical stuff) so I will pass on this. Let you know Friday what the problem is/was.

John,
Another common problem is mud daubers (bees) that clog things up and block air flow. I took off the outside vent and used a vaccume extension to dislodge and suck out the stuff.

I have had daubers build a nest right on top of the electrodes. Even though I could hear it clicking to ignite, it would not due to the nest. After close visual inspection, the problem was obvious.

Regards,

Glenn

Bruce,

I don't think John had a chance to upload it yet.

I just attached the service manual to this reply. I think it is small enough to post.

I'm sorry I wasn't more clear, the Database that was listed as one of the sub-forums is the old Yahoo forum database and it did make things confusing, so I have retitled it to reflect what it actually is Old Yahoo Forum Database

What I was actually referring to in this thread as the Database is the storage part of the new forums software that can be found under this retitled sub forum Wanderlodge Owners Group > Frequently Asked Questions > Manuals and Files Stored in This Forums Software DATABASE once it opens click on Index of Downloaded Manuals and Files in Forums Software Database

You will find the furnace information near the bottom, as everything is filed numerically and alphabetically, there are two of them you may want;

SUBURBAN FURNACE.pdf 18-Dec-2008 02:06 1.8M
Suburban%20Maint%20M..> 18-Dec-2008 02:06 335k

I'm sorry for the confusion and I hope that this clears things up.
