This post will mainly apply to fulltimers, as we use campgrounds year round.
We recently purchased a very inexpensive campground membership for $48 including document/shipping cost, with frozen annual dues of $39. It is Breckenridge Lake Resort in Crossville TN. We may never actually visit there, but it has affiliation with Coast to Coast (C2C) and Resort Parks International Plus (RPI). RPI and C2C are $10 night (with some nickle/dime charges in addition possible), the Plus part lets you into NACO and Leisure Time Resorts at a discount. C2C is $89.95 a year, RPI Plus is $79 a year. As I type this we are in a 5 star resort under RPI, total $13 a day with $2.50 utility fee, and tax, plus the $10 RPI rate. We are currently in 5 star (very nice) Hart Ranch, near Rapid City SD. Last 2 weeks before buying this affiliation of campgrounds, we paid $26 a night for a much lesser campground near Keystone SD (Spokand Creek). The ebay seller was fast and efficient with the paperwork, and is still listing similar deals at a slightly higher buy in, same $39 a year frozen dues. You can break the contract at any time with a certified letter to the park. Current listing is: http://cgi.ebay.com/COAST-TO-COAST-R...3A1%7C294%3A50 with a slightly higher buy in. We also use Passport America regularly, and have access to Military Family Campgrounds, but wanted to expand our base. I have also been researching the more expesive Thousand Trails private network, with resorts of distinction add on, but that will be another post. |

Upon review of the e-Bay site it mentions a $125.00 transfer fee. That wasn't mentioned in your post. Just what is it that is being transfered?

Reading the sellers feedback seems to indicate if you tick him off or he takes something you say the wrong way, you will end up with a bunch of headaches. I'm glad it worked out well for Dan.

I did forget about the $125 transfer fee - I suspect that is how the seller mainly gets paid. He does all the paperwork with the campground as well as C2C and RPI.
He sells a lot of memberships. Some of the folks on escapees websites have been buying these, and that is where I learned of them. He has a ton of ebay feedback, and "almost" all is positive. I suspect he has low tolerance for BS, as do lot's of the rest of us as well. He communicated well via email, gave me his phone number (I never called him though), and did the paperwork fast. It worked out well for us, but as fulltimers we should get our moneys worth and then some. If we were still just doing vacations I would have never bought in. I'll do a later post tallking about Thousand Trails memberships - more dollars than this one. I think by getting into some memberships we'll save more money in the long run, and may be able to avoid workcamping to add to the budget. We have commited to work camp this fall/winter already this year. I have no interest, commission or otherwise on these, just passing the info on. |
