Default by pass the hot water heater???

Hi group
thought I had posted this but can't find it if I did....

I have posted this on other forums so won't make this long...sorry to those who get annoyed at repeated postings...

need to by pass the hwh until I get home if reasonably easy/ possible..
it sprung a leak at the bottom edge somewhere....so at present I have the shore water off and fresh water tank empty.

Will be back home in 2 weeks where I can deal with getting a new heater etc.

Using containers to hold water to flush & brush...

thanks

Get a Hot water heater bypass installed
Kit costs about 20 dollars plus labour to install
Its a quick fix and willwork well when you winterize coach

thanks all

Went by the rv store and they had a by pass kit....

after quite awhile there discussing, cussing and looking at the pics I brought in he thought it wouldn't work on this system...

so if it will work, looked very similar--- which pipes,
the hotwater out copper line?
and...the cold water inlet line>>>after the junction it makes, to a black rubber hose which goes thru one of the drain valves into the hwh?

will check back later, gotta get back to work.

Rose Mary

Default hot water heater out of the loop

Hi all

thank you for the input.

Tom Warner let me know by phone that I could simply cap/plug 2 pipes and have water to everything else...

it turned out to be so easy once I knew for certain which 2 lines....
1. the hot water outlet 5/8" flare plug after removing from top of heater
2. on the incoming water line there was a t which had an elbow to black rubber line down to one of the drain valves before entering the hwh bottom,
undid the elbow and put a 3/8" plug in it's place. voila no more water to the heater but everything else works as usual just no hot water. yes...

Kudos to Tom and thanks for all the good input.
Hoping to obtain the water systems diagrams...

I'm sure I'll be back when I get home and tackle replacing the hot water heater.

Has anyone used an on demand (tankless) water heater?

Regards

Rose Mary I replaced my original water heater two years ago with a Force 10 eleven gallon system. It works great. I shower, shave, shampoo and brush my teeth with water to spare. The beauty of it is that 15 minutes later my wife can do the same. Call Stephen, he'll have one or another brand that will fit your needs
