Default Registration renewal in Georgia

We bought our coach a year ago in Georgia from a private party and paid no sales tax. We registered the coach and the toad in Georgia and the fees seemed very reasonable. Now we must renew the registration and I was warned that there would be a significant value added tax. What can you tell me about the renewal registration costs for a 1991 WBWL and a 2006 HHR in Georgia? We may still have time to register in another state. Thanks, Jim Barone

Jim, I did not renew my coach tags this year because I had sold it but before now there were no issuses as far as Added Value tax, unless this is something new??? Im not sure of. Now last year if you just "Transfered" the tags the " Toad" being a newer vehicle, This year will be more $$$ for advelorum Tax.... If remember correct you can tranfer for $18 or $26 dollars or something like that but the next year you get to pay the full years Advelorum Tax wich could be 2 to 3 hundered dollars depending on the value of the car. Hope this helps. One more thing ..If they are registered here in Ga. now they should send you a renewal notice and it should have the fees on it. Tom Birdless Alpharetta GA.

Default Georgia registration

Tom.. Thanks for the response...Let me see if I understand...By the way our renewal notice is lost in the mail. That is the purpose of this inquiry..When we registered the coach and the toad a year ago there was no Ad Valurom tax that I recall...I am concerned that there will be a big tax on the coach this year when I renew. Is this a valid concern? Thanks for your help. Jim Barone, fulltiming, currently in Western Kentucky.

Right... If I understand this right, The PO had the coach in GA. and you just TRANSFERED it?? So he had already paid the Advalrum for that year. So yes your tags this year will be higher than last years transfer. So if you still have contact with him he should be able to tell you what to exspect as far as $$ .. My coach was a 90SP36 and I didnt think the tags were bad at all. IIRC like $100 or $125 bucks??? I could dig through some of my old paper work and see if I could find an old recpt. Tom

I don't know the price for tags in Georgia, but...

The cost for 1 year tags here in Michigan for my Bird are over $1000.

So, to make a long story short, I registered the coach in Florida. First year tags, $140.00. Every year after that, $40.00!!

Let's not forget that the tags belong to the individual and expire on your birthday. Also the taxes are different for each I have not got county. Tom I hope you only paid 100-200 for yours. I got the notice in for my dad's car 2004 Intrepid it is $60.00 here in Upson county. I ave not received the notices for the bus, my car, truck, my class C stick and staple and the car trailer. Great birday present from the county

Default Tags and taxes in Georgia

Here is the end of the story of the cost of tags and taxes in Georgia. The renewal tags and taxes for our 1991 WBWL were $84.00 and the renewal tags and taxes for our 2006 Chevy HHR toad were $143.85. I take back all of the bad things I said. Jim Barone, currently in western Kentucky.
