rv fire

Video of Class C burning. Propane tanks vent due to heat adding to the flames and noise.

While this class C had a lot of wood components making up it's structure compared to a 'Bird, when it comes to a fire having one in a 'Bird can also be catastrophic and dangerous to try to put out with a fire extinguisher. This is a good reminder to check you fire extinguishers.

my advice is to run, grab your wife (or not!) and run.
a motorhome is not worth my life.
we get burned RVs every year in fl.
a few years ago a GMC caught fire, the old man stopped and he and his wife got out,the dog was trapped in his cage, the women went back for the dog,the man went back for the wife, all three died.
all witnessed by other travelers.

I was thinking of adding this
Cold Fire Super System Engine Compartment Systems

Automatic fire detection and suppression systems

Can be mounted vertically or horizontally in your motor home engine compartment. These systems can also be used in the belly of your rig near the propane tanks.

These self-contained systems use a quick-response sprinkler head. They have no moving parts and do not require any electricity. When the heat sensor is subjected to 280 degrees of heat, it activates the system.

I just installed a Fireboy behind the fridge. It will pop off at a couple of hundred degrees. It is only 12 inches tall.
Gives me some piece of mind.
Next comes the engine.

Fire Fight Products. I have the double headed unit for the engine bay and a single for the generator bay. The first things I am going to put on the bus as soon as I get it (any day). I have the product here, now.

Trying to find video. Yesterday I was caught in a huge backup on I 75 SB in Fort Myers. Got up to the ‘accident’ and it was a new class A coach. The front end was burnt out. Looks like they lost control when it happened as they had a highway sign draped over the top. I heard from a friend it was there into the night. Probably having a hard time getting a lift. I’ll try to find out more about it and report.
