American Made Grade 8 and 9 Bolts & Nuts

Folks,

I've been having a tough time finding suitable Grade 8 hardware for the bus. I want good quality stuff to bolt the CAC/Rad and some frame components back together. The usual hardware stores sell nothing but stuff made in Asia, which I don't trust. Fastenal is all made in Taiwan with the exception of their Grade 9 stuff, but still I'm not sure that I trust their quality. Luckily it turns out that a quality source of American made hardware is just down the street at my local Caterpillar Parts Center. Caterpillar makes Grade 8 with 150,000 psi tensile strength (marked by 6 radial dashes on the head) as well as a High Strength version (some call it Grade 9) with 170,000 psi tensile strength (marked with 7 radial dashes). The best part is that the selection is huge and availability is even better. Check out their link here ( at the bottom is a pdf doc with bolt size choices):

David

Look up Aircraft Supplies their phone number is 800-569-9397 also Aircraft Spruce 877-4 -SPRUCE . Expect to pay aircraft prices. If they don't have what you are looking for they will lead you to the right place. Good luck
