Aquahot Sputtering

Back in June while in Shipshewana, Mike & Paul helped me with my Aquahot, we replaced the nozzle, Mike did a pressure test and it was adjusted it to the correct pressure. A new nozzle was installed the electrodes were set and all was put back together, we turned it on for a few minutes and it ran well.

Today I removed the old fuel filter, gaskets and I replace with a new filter, replaced the gaskets filled the filter and reinstalled. I fired up the aquahot and it ran fine for a few minutes then it stated with the grey/white smoke again. Then I could hear it sputtering through the exhaust, I'm wondering if it could be the fuel pump surging? Any thoughts?

It could be pulling air. I would fill the filter and try it again making sure everything is tight. Also check the fuel line at the fuel pump.

Did you prime it after the maintenance?

Now it tries to fire but then it shuts down and the dash light goes out.

One time when I did mine, somehow removing the head i pulled a wire off one of a temperature sensors and it acted like that. Check behind that panel.

John Try bypassing the filter, that was my issue I put a simple inline filter in and she ran like a champ

Randy, MarkB and I (mostly the first two) were chasing one of these gremlins on a 97 a few months back. Ended up being a flame sensor. Not out of the realm of possibility.

That filter with the plastic bottom can be a pita to get sealed, personally i change that over to a standard spin on filter, that makes life much easier.
And i have changed the whole filter package over to a lawn mower type inline filter, like Kip did.
We just changed Mark B;s coach over to a lawn mower style in line,on the road you can't find the racor one so easily.
