The lower switch controls the door step on mine. You may/may not know this, but if you don't, the door step will hurt you bad if your body parts get in the way when it moves, so be careful....

Although I have never seen a bad water pump cause coolant in the oil. It dosen't mean it can't or hasn't.
The ones that I have seen go bad were weeping externaly.
