Food for thought

We used to use silica gel as a desiccant when shipping equipment sensitive to moisture. When finished, we'd stick the gel into a moderately heated oven to dry it out and restore it for re-use....

Spring brakes are scary.

My push/pull dash valve leaks. Bought a new one to replace. I think the set point is 40#.

Not sure why the design features a pop valve. Wouldn't it be better for a...

Yep Bob a valid point. I tried my best to delicately work the racks with light finger movement and lots of PB Blaster over three days. After looking at buying a complete new engine, then a rebuilt...

Finally got a chance to test my brainchild flapper idea. Yep, Treebob, you were right, the engine just kept chugging along. This is even with the crankcase recycle fitting plugged. Oh well, back to...

Stalling then serge is bad news

For what it's worth, my experience with erratic governor performance is a warning to change your fuel, or at least get some lubrication quick into the super low sulfur fuel. I used Walmart super 2...

Spring Brake valve

Been looking at an FC air system schematic. Noticed the push pull brake valve located on the dash is connected to a device called a "valve spring brake" which then seems to connect to the rear air...

Up and running

We're up and running. The 3208 seems to be acting well - as it did
before the problem happened.

Well I have to admit, it's been an interesting journey.

Overall, I found the governor...

Racks are free

After three days soak and repeated application of PB Blaster, the racks became freed up. No force, just movements with fingers. At first a slight movement, then, like a dam burst, total freedom.

#38: Presently in thinking mode. Will continue trying to free the injection rack with PB Blaster, then if that fails move on to brake/carb cleaner plus ATF soak. Also heard of acetone bath method. If...

response to #34 Manual solenoid

#34: you hit the nail on the head - bravo. The very reason why my rack was stuck open instead of closed. I tested my manual shut off solenoid system for quite a while with great results. Push on the...

Apparent Root Cause

When the runaway happened I certainly had no idea that it would do what it did. I'm sincerely thankful to have had the patience to wait for the CO2 to show up in the mail before attempting the start....

Rear end temperature

With the power upgrade, be sure to have good instrumentation on your differential oil temperature, as well as the Allison temperature. What it takes to swap out the engine would be a great thread.

Jake brake - not good on 3208

If you are talking about an exhaust Jake brake, the 3208 valves springs are supposed to be too weak. If it's electrical-hysteresis, system then the drive train setup is quite complex with many...
