Fred at 65-70 mph most of us square FC owners would be at 2600-2800 rpm. The cat is definitely capable of those speeds (and more!) but I think most of us try to keep it under 2500 rpm for longevity....

I believe it is simply a "presence" sensor that will trigger engine alarm light. The Cat will let you destroy itself. Good gauge scan is a must and cannot be replaced. I spend as much time watching...

There's also the chance that your breaker switches have just come loose and fallen out over the years. Stick a piece of wood in there to trip them. Also, there's not a 'low fuel cutoff' that I know...
