That's what I thought it was - that side compartment on mine is completely enclosed. I could hack it all out and put that style of rad/fan in there, but it's not a simple whack it in kinda thing...

Squirrel cage is why it's quiet, a bladed fan is way louder. I don't know if I have enough room in that compartment for it or not. The gen battery is in there and so is the washer fluid reservoir.
