Mine were glued in with a clear silicone. I saw the recommendation to use a heat gun but I was concerned about a heat gun releasing the glue in the door veneer as well. I also saw where the heat gun did not work for one gentleman. While here at the Birds at the Beach Rally, two owners had experienced broken handles. One said the heat gun and pliers worked for him and the other it didn’t and he ended up drilling a hole from the backside and driving it out. For me, I drilled several 3/16 holes (16 in total) in the front of the latch, then stuck a 90 degree pick in to break up as much of the silicone as possible and then finally used needle nose pliers in the holes to pull the broken handle straight out. Be very careful not to try to pry it out as you will likely break the mirror.

Good luck,
