Sid,

We have the Bendix air throttle on many BlueBirds, If the same ??
It could be system wide air leaks & the tanks are depleted, so more
time is needed for air pressure to build.
And yes the cylinder can be cleaned , lubed & O rings replaced.
careful these parts are obsolete, and other methods would be needed
for modification. also the cable may be binding.
