Default Rehab'ed my Zip Dee's today

My awnings probably haven't been deployed in 20 years, they were frozen when I got the rig and the I doubt the previous owner used them much if at all. Got them to roll out but the arms were frozen and wouldn't extend. After a week of penetrating oil had zero results I took the arms off and used a hammer, the universal problem solver. With one end in a vise between wood jaws I used a piece of square tubing as a punch so any deforming of the aluminum would be minimal and slowly worked them open. The corrosion and muck was thick but several cans of brake cleaner a pack of steel wool and silicone lube has them working great! On top of that my wife was nice enough set up her sew machine in the driveway and repaired one of the pull loops that had unraveled.
