Stick:

According to the drawings in the 84 PT owner's manual, the pressure regulator on main propane tank contains an excess control valve. From the interweb "Excess flow valves are intended to close upon excessive discharge of vapor or liquid resulting from a break in the hose or piping".

I have heard, read, or possibly dreamed that rapidly opening the shut-off valve can trigger the excess flow valve particularly if the downstream piping system is empty. It can be reset by closing the shut-off valve and then slowly opening it again.

I have no personal experience with propane systems to know if this is actually possible. But I don't think it would be harmful to try it an see if it works.

In the meantime, I will go back to shoveling the snow in my driveway.

Cheers.
