I also have the FACET electric fan clutch, and am needing to replace the thermostat switch. The one that is on it is a KYSOR 1002-04880. It does not appear to have the last 2 digits which would indicate actuating temp.

Has anyone been able to find a replacement / cross referenced switch, (NAPA, etc) or will I need to get another KYSOR ?

I found a replacement sensor/switch at fanclutch.com

I am using one that operates at 200 degrees, and the part number is an Index sensor # 8037178P. Same three terminal switch, replacement for the Kysor 1002 04880 32. Cost was $27 plus shipping.

Looks like fanclutch.com has most anything a Bird owner would need for the Horton Fans, and they said they may be able to help some with Facets.....
Phone number for them is 800-525-0164

On my 1980 FC 35 the PO had replaced the Horton setup with a totally electric fan setup. All 12V DC, no air just a pretty big 12 volt motor and a sensor in the motor for temp. If anyone is interested I can find out who made it and cost. RIck in rainy Ohio

Just got an answer from PO, and he said the business is ELECTRIC FAN ENGINEERING and he thought the setup was about $400. He had to do a very simple modification to the radiator to make the system work. I am guessing he had to move it a little further fwd. Rick in Ohio

Hey John!!

I am finally back from tour and ready to get the Bird fixed. My first order of business is replacing the racing fans with the original fan so I don't overheat...any idea where I can locate one? I'm not even sure of the exact part and I've had no luck figuring it out.

Any ideas?

April

Call the people at Fanclutch.com

Just tell them what you have and are trying to do and they should be able to fix you up with what you need.

Hey guys,

I called them and they couldn't help me because they don't know the original parts that were in there. They told me to call Bluebird and find out, which I did. Bluebird couldn't help me either. So I'm back at square one. I'd really like to put the original parts back in., but if I have to replace them with something else, I want something that will cool the engine correctly. Any suggestions?
