Default S60 in a PT?

I’ve seen a few posts where they say S60 in a PT. I was confused since the S60 didn’t show up until ~1995 and the PT with the mid Eighty’s look ran the 6V or 8V. Is there a mid to late eighties PT36-38 with an S60 in it?

Paul the Wanderlodge did not get a S60 until 95. The 95 WB came in 40' with the 8v92 and 42' with the S60. From 96 on Wanderlodge put in S60 or Cummings. If there is a S60 before 95 I believe what would have to have been done by someone with that skill and not the factory. I'm still new but that is my understanding.

No,the S60 came in WB's or LXI's,never in a PT,but some people insist on calling a WB a PT.

That must be where the confusion is.

Thanks, that’s what I thought too, but to Randy’s point, there is some terminology confusion. An S60 in a PT 36 would be the bomb.

So when I bought my bus back in 2017, I stopped in Stewart and Stevenson in Houston to have the oil changed and filters done before driving home and there was a PT there that they said they were putting a Series 60 in it. So if they did finish it, there may be one PT out there with a Series 60! I have been wanting to find out if they ever did finish it, I was hoping one day it may pop on here.

An opportunity for a humble brag from that owner.

That would be an interesting set up.
Wouldn’t you need a different Allison transmission too?
What about the rear end ?
Known to be weak link in the driveline.
Are you thinking about trying it Jeff?

Not to mention the length of the bus. That is why a 95 with an 8v92 is 40' and one with a S-60 is 42'. Major changes would have to be made. Not that they couldn't. Anything can be done if you have enough money.

I was having some work done in a W.W.Williams about 13 years ago. There was a new S60 on a pallet behind my coach. I mentioned that I wouldn't mind having it in my bus. The service manager said "I can do it....for about $100,000." No telling what it would cost now.
