Default Blue Bird trailer

If you enlarge the Blue Bird name plate it was built by Canadian Blue Bird Coach Ltd. in Brantford, Ontario, Canada. The company is still listed as part of Blue Bird. The website refers back to the US company

Thanks everyone!

Its Aluminum on a steel frame.

This was the seller's description

Other thing I don't know is the dry weight :/

But I do know when we pulled it out on the highway, it pulled really nice, rode easy, and wasn't hard on the engine revs. So i think empty, as it right now is lighter weight maybe

Default Very Vintage electrical and heat

Pics of the electrical and heat features that I have to get tested (or updated). I did find an Watson furnace manual online. Need to either find an adapter for the electrical hook up, or switch it out.

Default Vintage Ad for Blue Bird Trailer

Just found this ad online, in a local newspaper archive Dated April 25, 1970. Looks like an owner selling used.
So that puts them in the 60s.
The ad says it sleeps 5, not sure if mine could, I only have 2 fold down to make double beds.

Update, found a google reference to an Ad in Winnipeg 1966

$2,400 in 1970 = $16,100 in 2020. Would take 3X that to touch anything close to how that BB is probably built.

Nice find!

Talked to a local at the coffee shop, who used to be a school bus mechanic and driver for local school board. He remembers the Blue Bird School buses, but never heard of the trailers before either. He had to go out twice to pick a couple up from the company in Brantford. he remembers touring the plant in the mid 80's.

He figures that the mostly they could have made of the trailers, was maybe 15 or so a year.

So, as per the original post, if they were only made for 3 years. Then there might be less than 45 - 50 of them ever made.
