Our coach is a 1987 PT38, and I do know the history back to 1987. Spent time with the previous owner before purchase. Has NHRA history too. Several WOGers have seen the coach at various NHRA events.

Well, I'll take a turn... I found my bus, a 1985 35-FC-SB, during the summer of 2012, right here on WOG. Mike and Tina Austin were the previous owners living in Redmond, Oregon.
Mike is one of those perfectionists type mechanics, so he had done a lot of marvelous work on the more serious potential problems. New hoses, high pressure hoses for the steering. OK tires, good running generator, and good cosmetic condition with no big dings, or huge rust problems. I brought the bus back to Utah in October of 2012, I have been puttering around on it since then. My most expensive repair so far has been a rebuild on the transmission at about $4,000.00 I believe Mike and Tina Austin bought the coach "Color Us Gone" from someone in Louisiana area, but I don't know who or where exactly. I don't know if they were the original owner, or the second owner. I also don't know exactly how long the Austin's owned the coach. There are 50,800 miles on the odometer, so the coach has been more of a garage ornament than a world traveler.

I was lucky enough to buy a coach with a "log book" of every mile it has traveled from new...pretty cool stuff as each trip was documented. Lots of trips to Canada and the west coast, also plenty of visits to military bases. I've continued the documentation during my ownership as well. May not add any monetary value to the old bus, but is sure does add sentimental value! I deal with old vehicles for a living, I always wonder who might have had major life experiences in them, first dates, weddings, etc. I guess sometimes the mystery is what makes it so interesting.

John before the folks in LA your coach was owned by a gentleman in Terre Haute, Indiana. I looked at it around 1999.

I bought mine from Gene Shutt, a California drag racing driver, in January of 2007. He thought I should have known who he was, but I don't follow drag racing. Don't know any other owners. Gene only owned it for a year or two. I think it has always been called Paradise. Had only about 90,000 on it when I purchased it. Has better than 200 now, but the o meter was broken for a while, so. Oh yeah, I bought is sight unseen, on Ebay.

Logbook
What an excellent idea! We already have a logbook of any work we are doing to her, as we have done for our other Harley and Camaro projects. I never thought to have a logbook of just her travels....Great idea!
Thanks!

1990 SP36 Silver Edition, produced 7/89
Sold by BB to Holland RV in MI per original MSO copy on hand, 8/89 Sold by Holland to Paul Wasserott of Luzerne, PA who owned a medical supply house Wasserott fished in Montana and consigned the coach to Big Sky RV in MT, I have the PA title that was never transferred. Big Sky sold the coach to the owner of a heavy equipment dealer in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1997 for $150,000 USD with 15k miles. Had to have a recall performed before it would be allowed into Canada. The owners of the Manitoba truck et.c. shop kept it for 13 years and ~55,000 miles. They put it up for sale in 2011 at which time WOGers Jeff Kunzelman and Gord McCuaig looked at it. Gord would go on and buy it for about $45,000 CDN Gord used the coach largely to stay at Ear Falls, Ontario while supervising work crews of Ontario Hydroelectric Power. He drove the coach sparingly, putting less than 2,000 miles on it in 7 years but made many improvements. When he retired in early 2017 the coach became surplus to his needs. He put it on WOG and I bought it, serviced it and drove it on its "completed lap" from Kenora, ON to Fort Valley, GA to spend some time with George Morris, where it is as of October, 2018. See you with it in some sort of shape at the WOG Rally in 2 weeks! C
