Cool Tesla Cybertruck

Starting this thread for what promises to be an amazing vehicle. Link below takes you to the official Tesla page where one can make a refundable deposit to get inline with roughly one million other potential customers & help Elon with $100 mil in financing. Swipe up on that page to see Tesla’s official promos. Tons of other pics on YT & the internet. Didn’t like the styling initially, but it has some amazing specs. Can now imagine one trailing along behind the M380 . Will it have flat 4-down config “toad” capability (no EV does that I know of)? Will it be ready before the 2024 Eclipse Rally? Doubtful on both counts, but one can hope…

I'll admit that I "ordered" one of these on the first day.
If I had known it would be til 2024 before I actually had a chance to get it, I would have bought the refreshed model S when it was released and enjoyed it for a few years first.

I'm not really concerned with charging.
I'll be overnight charging, at home, for the majority of the time, and that's a very cheap utility rate since it's a beneficial baseload time for the power co. (8 cents kwh in Alabama)
Hopefully we will get our solar setup done before the truck arrives and then it will be even cheaper.

I've got an electric Chevy bolt ev, it's a great commuter car. The electric trucks just aren't there yet for how I use a truck.

Same here. I will have my eye on the new electric Scout now too.

In my wildest dreams one of them can be towed 4 down and used to feed the bus house bank. I have been really close to just converting my old scout to electric and using it as a toad and booster battery for the bus.

Default Tesla Truck Plans & Amazing Accessories Already

Tesla Truck is not even out yet and look at all the innovative ideas already out there. Just a couple examples:

Me too Jayson. Except I waited so as to be down the list on purpose. By the time they get to me, it’s my hope the bugs will be worked out & full up AI self driving will be a reality. On waiting, I learned my lesson with the first BB eclipse rally and now the second. On both it seemed silly to make a reservation years in advance. However, time seems to accelerate when one makes a reservation like that. Then all of the sudden, it’s here and history. Two years ago, I considered/compared the X/Y vs a Jeep Wrangler ordered & built to go off road NOT to the mall. No electric vehicle could do what I had in mind. The 2-door V6 dino powered Rubicon could and does, despite its thirsty nature. It’s arguably still the best factory built serious off-road vehicle ever made, especially with a few upgrades AND there’s no better toad for the Bird. The eWrangler wasn’t out yet. Had momentary regret in not getting one when it arrived. However that passed quickly when no nimble two-door electric hybrid model appeared. When Elon calls and says "it's my turn", I should be ready despite its huge 237” size. Our TX property is only 240 miles from Tesla’s Gigafactory. So one day I hope to pick one up from the mothership and let IT drive me home without stopping

Mike H - Totally agree with you. Politicians and governments are putting the cart before the horse with respect to grid capacity for EV charging. Some states can’t keep the lights & AC on, yet they are mandating electric vehicles. Go figure! However, the AZ Bird House has sufficient excess solar capacity to charge an EV. Our net electricity cost for the past 5 years has been zero $$, so charging one will not be a factor. Our next (and final) build in TX will have even more solar capability. Frankly, I’ve never understood why Elon doesn't offer big Tesla Solar discounts to his customers as part of any Tesla car purchase. Then they could automatically offset those shortcomings & concerns, while giving Tesla even more marketing clout than they already have. It promises to be a fun ride either way.

I'll admit, I am not a big fan of the "truck" styling but the overland concept looks pretty cool. Much better looking than the setup I am currently building with the Rubi Gladiator.

I reserved a lLightening. Walked away when I had to “negotiate final price at the dealership”. No thanks.

We bought a Toyota RAV4 Prime (plug-in hybrid) to hold us over until bugs are worked out.

With the world’s largest consumer going all electric by 2027, I expect rapid development/improvements.

Funny you mention the dealership experience.
I wanted to reserve a Maverick hybrid for my daughter when they were announced.
Ford's registration and dealer markup process killed that deal and also cost them a lighting sale as well.
They didn't care, they were going to sell them all anyway. But with this massive recession landing in the market, they've cost themselves 2 sales and I'm not inclined to ever talk to a Ford dealer again.
