Default Back at Q

Hello all,

Guess we just can't stay away. We are now back at Quartzsite for a few days.
We did some traveling around Arizona and spent about 5 days down in St David with my former archery coach. Then we hooked up with Chuck and Kathy Pastchke and spent 2 nights at an Indian Casino near Maricopa. No hook ups of course but good food and company. In fact when we went into the casino, we received a card with 15 bucks to gamble with and a free buffet diner. I walked out with 7 bucks cash and a full belly. LIFE IS GOOD.

Next we head to Vegas to visit my sister. Hmmmm, wonder how many more free buffets we can find. Life may get even BETTER!!

We're gonna meet Chuck and Kathy back at Q in a week or so. Gonna put new battery cables on his coach.

Hey Don,
Quartzsite is the place to be right now,so you made a wise decision!!
Glad you enjoyed taking some $$ from the Local Indian Casino over there in Maricopa, everyone else seems to leave a lot there.

See you again soon.

Hi Fred
It's been about 16 years since I set foot in a casino. It was a blast walking in and receiving the card with 15 bucks to gamble with. We just played the 2 cent slot machines. Each time I got ahead, I hit the button to print my winnings receipt. That way I didn't lose what I'd won. So using their 15 bucks I walked out with 7. Just think, that's 2 gallons of fuel! (LOL) But I DID enjoy the free buffet. My wife left with 3 bucks and a full belly as well. Just think, that's ALMOST another gallon of fuel. WOW, we're really on a roll!! Heck, with a 300 gallon tank, we'd have to do this everyday for almost 100 days. Hmmm, that would take some planning....

By the way, does anyone know which casino's in Vegas allow overnight parking.

It has been my experience that the only machine that pays off consistantly in a casino is the coke machine. (the CocaCola machine that is)

Gardner, you are certainly right about that. Both the coke machine and the coffee machine were FREE at the casino we were at!

It's not that way in Vegas!! Man, they're charging high prices for everything out there! It makes fuel seem cheap! You'll be lucky to get a kick in the shorts on the way out!!

I saw you at the dump station in Q yesterday. I was across the road getting water. I was washing dishes while filling and by the time I got done you were gone.

I gave up trying to find an RV park in Phoenix/Mesa area. Every park I called was either full, I was too young (need to be 55 or older), the motorhome was too old (10 years or newer is what they want), or the motorhome was too long. So I decided just to hang out at Q again until Sunday when I have a 2 week reservation at Oasis in Las Vegas. I've been here since Saturday after 3 days in Yuma.

Hi Rich,

I saw your bus near the dumpsters while we were filling with water. We only went a short way down the road (towards the entrance) and pulled over there. Sorry we missed you. We are in Vegas now. Parked in the RV/bus lot at the Riviera. We are here for the archery competition being held here. While we are not shooting in this one, my former coach and world champion, Frank Pearson is competing. We came to watch him and to visit my sister in Henderson.

I love the fact that at Q there are no real restrictions. It's a great place to come and go almost at will. We'll be back there next week to replace battery cables on another coach. We're hanging out in the southwest until the weather warms up and we can go to Alaska.

Where you gonna go after Vegas?

I'm heading to Long Beach for 5 weeks after Vegas (Feb. 27-Apr. 3).

I moved into a more secluded area at Q. My current project is refurbishing my air step. It wouldn't retract, which I traced to one of the mercury switches which had broken from its mounting. I decided to go whole hog while I was down there so I removed the step and bought new rubber runner material, 1" aluminum angle, new shoulder bolts for the linkage and stainless screws for the aluminum angle. I'm going to strip off the rust and flaked paint and then repaint it.
