Default Kohler 7.5c61-RV Generator

I just purchased my first Vintage Bird... A 1979 Wanderlodge with only 22,000 original miles. I am in the middle of doing some upgrades in preparation for a year long roadtrip across the USA and have a question about the generator. She was working fine but we had some issues with the chassis battery bank... long story short, we were jump startting the chassis battery bank and forgot that the generator was running. The jumper cables melted so I rushed in and shut down the generator. Now there is no electrical power to the switches on the dash, galley or the unit itself. the generator battery shows 12.8 V. I suspect a blown fuse but cannot find it anywhere... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm interested in the jumper cables melting due to the generator being on. Tell us some more about that.

I think the cables were backwards or set up in a 6 volt or maybe even a 24 volt configuration? The generator would only be running the battery charger so I don't see how that would melt your jumper cables.

What is the issue with the battery bank? How did you have jumper cables hooked? Can you take pictures?

Default Generator issue update

I have been able to troubleshoot the problem. The Starting Solenoid is fried. I was able to jump the solenoid to start the generator. As to how it happened I am still trying to put together the process that triggered it.

Thanks everyone for the help and insights... It is very much appreciated.
