Be careful mixing the wheels, you will need lug nuts too.
As well as a few extra studs, studs do break if you don't know which way they turn.

The problem with a mounted spare on the roof is getting it down. A tire can be flipped off and it won't bounce much. A mounted spare will bounce and either trash the side of the coach or any person nearby.

Just let the air out of the spare and throw it off.

After learning what a roadside tire purchase costs I carry an unmounted tire on the roof. It’s a lot easier to get an unmounted one up and down. I’ve thrown it off into the curbside ditch twice now. $100 extra to the Roadside Assistance driver gets it mounted. Beats paying $900 for an off brand no ones ever heard of.

General question:

I understand space is a premium. That being said, if one chooses to, can a mounted or unmounted spare fit in one of the basement storage areas? Thanks.

That really depends on the coach and the size tire your trying to carry. I think original size tires will fit in the bays of WB and later coaches. Not sure of the BMC.

After having a tire failure on Christmas day on I40 below Greensboro, I carry a spare.
It is a 275/80R22.5H Michelin. I carry it unmounted in a cargo bay.

Thank you Rick. I am heavily leaning (pun intended) toward an LX.

If you do that, put a sheet of masonite down on the bay floor, its smooth and helps get the tire in or out.
