Saturday we took a river cruise. Saw a harbor seal, some porpoises, a rotating bridge, and lots of lighthouses.

Came back from the cruise late afternoon and many of us hooked up so we could make an early morning departure. Shane was first in the road, followed by the Ramsey's, then Marino's and then me. Thanks to a fuel stop, Shane and I hooked up on the Mass turnpike and followed each other the rest of the way home until I had to get off at my exit. Out the door by 6am and home almost 12 hours later. Good food, good friends, good sights, good times. Sad it had to end, but there will be other rallies.

After a fantastic time in Maine it was time for us to head south. We stopped at Gettysburg for 2 nights and saw the sites. We stayed at Codorus State Park about 15 miles east. Nice park, 30 amp..but a pain to get to and then back to I81. Nice to be out of the hustle and bustle for a couple of days. Tonight were finally back in the land of 2.65 diesel and 15 bucks...for both of us!.... eating out supper!
Coneross COE tomorrow for a couple of days of nothing!

Although we cancelled our plans for the Boothbay rally, we kept thinking we really needed to go to Maine to visit the in-laws. They have a summer home about 2 hours north of Boothbay on Little Deer Isle. By the time we got on the road, the rally was over, so we drove on to The island.

Because the Bluebird was still at George Morris’ we took my old Cadillac. It’s a ‘96 Fleetwood Brougham and it is in near showroom condition. We have a ‘14 CRV but it is not comfortable to me, and I refuse to drive it long distances.

We had 3 nights on the road going up, 4 nights in Maine and 3 days coming home. 3359 miles total.

Not only was I exhausted, the air conditioning went out in Charlotte, about 6 hours from home. The temperature read 103 and I believe it. Leather and no air conditioning do not go well together.

Turns out this is the 3rd locked up compressor in one year. It’s under warranty, but they won’t chance the brand of compressor, so no one knows how long it’ll last.

The reason for this long post is to publicly say that I’m done with 600 mile days. I’m 70 and I will not do it anymore. Almost every post I read speaks of the pleasures of taking it slow and easy. I am with you all the way.

Coming up to Alaska Carol and i drove a couple of 500 mile days,to catch up with the group, but its no fun to drive like that.
