Default Finn's Inn gets some updates

I'm here at Randy's to have few things done to my 'Bird, first the old radiator needed to be replaced so Randy found me a good used one out of the FC that he recently salvaged. We also completely flushed out all of the old coolant and replaced it with a 50/50 mix of Fleetpride ES Compleat EG Premix Concentrate and distilled water, while the radiator was swung open I adjusted all of the belts and touched up the Cat's paint job.

Randy also installed a transmission cooler that is similar to the one that David Hollis has on his FC that Ernie used to own, we have a expanded metal and wire mesh guard that fits under the cooler to protect it from road debris.

A couple more updates are going to be done this week and I'll post pictures of those later.

Yes, I'm using this new cooler in line with the radiator cooler I believe that Randy routed it from the external transmission filter then through the new trans cooler and then through the radiator cooler then back to the transmission.

Here are a few more additions today, Randy installed the expanded metal and metal lath guard cover under the transmission cooler.

When we did the Kubota/Powertech transplant on my 'Bird it ended up with the oil pan sitting on the generator drawer which caused it to vibrate and transmit the noise and vibration into the floor above, so we added 1/4" metal spacers between the motor mounts and brackets to gain some clearance, it isn't much but it is now up off of the drawer.

As I posted on another thread I added this Emergency Manual Fuel Shutoff Valve to the fuel line that feds the injector pump, it is similar ball valve to the one that I used for the oil drain on my old Perkins.

Stay tuned for more........................

My Kubota / Powertech transplant had a Dupree filter on it and while it was excellent for better breathing, it was very noisy.

I had a K&N style cleanable filter laying around my shop so I made this canister for it in hopes that it would reduce the droning noise of the air intake, here is how I did it.

The new filter fits right inside the same area as the old Dupree filter

Another improvement. Soon that beer wagon will be better than a new one.

Here are a couple more improvements that Randy and I made for the 'Bird, the first one is a skid plate that goes under the engines oil pan and the two filters, yet the oil drain plug can be easily removed to drain the oil and the oil filters can still be changed easily without removing the skid plate.

On a previous trip I found out due to one of my mistakes that if the electric booster fuel pump fails to run, fuel cannot be sucked through it by the engines fuel pump and leaves you stranded, so we added a bypass valve that can be easily reached through the Propane compartment to then allow the engines fuel pump to draw fuel like it did before we added the booster pump, my 'Bird didn't come with the Facet pump near the tank.

As soon as it gets daylight outside ,after checking one more thing, I will be heading out from here in Bainbridge, Ga for the next section of my trip which will be my 50th high School reunion at Boys Town, Nebr next Thursday, I plan on visiting a few friends on the way too.

John I know you do things well, and I'm sure this did not escape your notice. But every time I see a new set of pictures its still there...
So out of interest for your welfare... you are intending to tie up those tranny hoses closer to the chassis? The ones hanging down?

Looks nice. You better up the load rating on those tires... he he...
