Jim , I did see the replacement model but 30" just wont work for me I'm afraid . That puts it 6" into the hallway and I would need to turn sideways to pass the handles . I guess if this is all there is I will go back to gas.elect again unless there is a handle less model out there . Thanks for the link .

Al, Yes the RF18 is discontinued but the Model # RF18HFENBSR-2 is available and the RF18's replacement. Not sure what you are looking at as 30" but it is 33" wide and counter depth so it only sticks out 24". Cut and paste the model number in red and you will find what you need I think. I also forgot to tell you that on HD you enter your zip and the will tell you the availability and delivery time to your location. I had mine delivered to the house and Lee Davis even got them to load it in his coach for him

The dimensions are exactly the same as mine, which is of the "original" RF18 model. Specs read about the same but I am no electrical guru to make a guarantee that it will work on your inverter. Don't know what inverter you have and don't know the specs on it if it is pure/modified sine wave. I have a pure sine wave inverter, but as I understand the Samsungs will run well on both.

Mine ran on the original inverter, but I eventually changed the iverters to sine when one of them failed. Peter Haggins had a problem and added a small, dedicated inverter for the fridge. Seems there are only a few problems, but a way out anyway.

I just tried to post this and it when to cyber space I guess.
Anyway this is from memory, But the RF197 is the old model, the RF18 is the new, only difference it the compressor is a little larger to make more ice.
Al, I agree on the handles, they do stick out more than I like. i guess you could design a smaller handle. I pushed my back into the hole an extra inch and I can live with it.
The inverter, I don' think there is any doubt it will operate fine on modified sine wave. Mine has been going for several years, running on an old original Heart Freedom inverter.
Al give me a call if I can help

The Samsung RT 18 we just installed has recessed in doors. No external handles. Great fit in our 95.

Thanks guys . I do think I will sacrifice an occasional turn of the body for the safety and reliability that far exceeds the advantages of the 2 way unit . I still need to do some wood work , so it seems my 2 week dry camping trip starting Sun will be without a refrigerator , but then again I did gain more closet space , lol . I had to say it

I plan to add solar next and a independent invertor for the fridge which should help me out while dry camping . I wish I could figure this android Pic thing to show you some of my fine work lol but I guess that will need to wait for show and tell and a rally coming near your location .

Recessed handles would make it perfect. I haven't seen anything online, though. If you have a choice, go for the recessed handles.
