Default Jake brake

I have not asked a stupid question in a while, so here goes.
I have a 3 stage jake brake and I think the low and medium settings no longer are working.
As a first step should I be looking for a fuse for this? I know it does work at the high setting.
Thanks in advance

Andrew

There are actually two feeds to the DD computer. Low is 2 cylinders, med is 4 cylinders, and high is both, so you know that part is working.
If it works on high I would guess the three way sw is the most likely problem. Easy to get to and easy to change. The other suspect would be the Relay out front the routes these two leads.

I agree, my '99 experienced the same problem and replacing the switch fixed it.

Not to change the thread, but you can change your on/off sw to a 3 way and make it engage the jake when you apply the brake, so it lets you run it this way with the cruise on and have the safety.

Default Jake brake

Thanks for the suggestion. I will try to get to it in the next few weeks. I was going down a series of VERY long and very steep hills on the way to a campground. I noticed a single beep then a double beep when I noticed the light was on for the high setting. Hopefully the switch is the culprit.
I appreciate your help.

Thanks
Andrew

You can also get your Jake reprogrammed to go to 5th gear instead of 4th. Makes the transition less of a jolt on your tranny. Bim suggested that to me when I had to have the wiring replaced. I like that change a lot better

An Allison shop can do that. They hook their computer to the port and do it from the captains chair. I think it was $150 for them to do mine.
