Default Safe-T-Steer vs Safe-T-Plus products

Opinions wanted--I have a 1982 FC 33 if that matters for ?

Just wanted to get opinions regarding which of these steering systems are better compared to each other.

my coach has Safe-T-Steer spring system on it currently. I did not realize the Safe-T-Plus system does the same thing when I bought it.

Am I better off replacing the Safe-T-Steer which may be 8-10 yrs old with my new purchase of the Safe-T-Plus system or just return for a refund?

I am looking for the best approach should I have a blow out or reduce the bumpy steering and better tracking down the road.

I am a novice so my mistake in not knowing more before getting anxious and buying product.....

I'll suggest calling Henderson Lineup in Grants Pass, OR. http://www.hendersonslineup.com/

Thanks Curt,

Funny, I was going to email you directly but thought I would put it on the forum and give you a rest.....

spoke to Don over there and he said put on the Safe-T-Plus system as much better.

I will take off existing and happily give it to another Bird Owner that may want the Safe-
T-Steer.

Default Henderson's Lineup

I can't keep those products straight in my mind

I'll hazard a guess that the 'spring' thing and the Saf-T-Plus are SuperSteer products designed to return steering to dead center, thereby eliminating wander while driving, and veering in the event of a front tire blow-out.

Best advice I can give you is to call Robert Henderson's shop in Grant's Pass, they're the SuperSteer product experts. Robert's an interesting guy--he will want to take you and your coach on a road test before recommending products.

But I expect he'll help you sort out the ones you've already got.

I phoned hendersons and asked and was told that the safety steer was the one to get. The safety plus is a different application. Don't remember exactly what it's for but I am not sure they make it for the wanderlodge anyway.

Funny, I spoke to them today, I believe it was Don I spoke with.

He indicated to scrap the Safe-T-Steer and go with the Safe-T-Plus after market one made for the Wanderlodge.

May I ask when you spoke to them last ?

FWIW, my coach came to me with a Saf-T-Plus (the one that looks like a blue steering damper). My steering with it installed doesn't need a lot of correction going down the road, so I left it on but doubt I would go out and buy one unless I wanted to cure wandering

Hard to say if it makes any difference or is working at all!

I believe Henderson's installs them with a slight left correction to account for crowned roads, where they expect coaches to spend most of their time. Could be wrong about that, just my recollection after a visit to them for my SOB several years ago.

This subject has been discussed here before. You may want to review the thread at the following link.

Pretty sure Henderson's sells the Safe-T-Plus unit for the Birds. That's what they put on ours.
