Default Hurricane Flameout

I changed out the fuel filter, and turned both switches on, turned the kitchen switch on...flameout. I'm assuming there is air in the fuel line?
The unit worked good a month age when I excerised it.

The only time I've seen that I asked here and learned that it probably meant my fuel tank was below 1/3 full. It was. What about yours? (the pickup is at the 1/3 level).

The fuel gauge is showing 1/2 tank.

My Hurricane has always had very minimal fuel delivery. Maybe prime the filter bowl with a little diesel. Try ignition multiple times.

Lance, Did you fill the filter bowl up with fuel before you put it back on?

Is your fuel gauge accurate? Mine isn't except at full. Top half is larger than bottom half I use the VMSpc fuel minder to tell how much as been used - not completely accurate, but better than the gauge.

Yep, purge the air until it stops flaming out.

Always happens to me when I change the fuel filter.

The bowl filled when I powered it up, Gary was right, just keep starting it, working fine now.
I don't know if the Hurricane has a purge valve, couldn't find it in the manual..

My purge value is on the top and has a thin T-handle and a place to attach a rubber hose to catch the liquid fuel you get when the air is removed. Mine is over 10 years old, so your mileage may vary.

This video, at the 2:30 mark shows the air accumulator and the purge value.

Mine started flaming out on a full tank.

With a little help from Hurricane in Vancouver, WA (they are great on the phone) I changed the fuel filter and installed a new burner jet. It worked fine once I got the air purged after the repair.

Apparently the jet should be changed every 3-4 years depending on use. This one had a 2003 date stamp when I changed it in 2015. The jet's O-ring was so hard it was letting air bubbles into the fuel, and of course the jet itself was out of spec after so many years running.

The filter is white when new. A black filter is long overdue, as I found out.

While you are in there, vacuum out the burner box. This should be done about once a year. Apparently carbon build-up in the burner box is what leads to burner box burn-out.
