Default Powertech /kubota question

New to this thread. Why is it important to not mention that your kubota is attached to a Powertech generator?

Just saw it mentioned on here a couple times. Heavy blue smoke, then shuts down. Fearing a broken ring. On a BMC so no temp gauge.

I think the issue is an agreement between Powertech and Kubota that restricts Kubota from selling you parts for Powertech equipment. So you end up paying way more to Powertech than direct from Kubota.

I had that issue with Johnson and Evenrude outboard motors (50 years ago). They were identical, but if we went to the Johnson parts place and mentioned Evenrude, they wouldn't sell the parts to us.

Gardner,
I bought a couple of temp and pressure sending units for my 15 kw PT and believe it or not PT was the lowest price I could find. Very surprising !!!

On a BMC 40 i was working on (same problem) the air filter was turned so that the opening was up,with the genny slid out it ran fine, slide it in and the snout would be burried in the upper insulation and would result in smoke and low power.
