Red, I believe a 2 1/2" pipe cap will work. I haven't tried it but it looks like standard pipe threads to me. Mine doesn't have a chain either, so I always set it on the outside step so I won't forget it.

Go to a school bus repair facility, caps are fairly standard part.
Or maybe scrap yard.

The cap is the same as my chev. C65 saddle tanks use all the way back to early 70's.

A NPT pipe cap has a different thread than the tank filler. I tried it.
