Default Onan 8KW Pictures Needed

If someone with an SP can shoot a few pictures of the top side of the Onan 8KW and send them to me I would greatly appreciate it! Top left, center and top right...

I have a rattle and there is something loose on the top center of the Kabota, I can feel it but I can't see it so pictures would help. I think it may be the exhaust manifold. It is loud and rattles enough to drive the neighbors crazy in a dry camping situation. Please help, I don't have a DKD book but I have ordered one. birds_first@hotmail.com

John, on my FC I had a rattle as you describe while running the generator. My problem turned out to be a broken flex pipe on the exhaust. There is a turndown off of the manifold made out of pipe that directs the exhaust downward. The flex pipe is located up high right after the 90 degree turn down.

I had my local muffler shop order a new 1-3/4” x 8” braided flex pipe. Had the shop weld 1-1/2” pipe onto both ends cut to length then they flared both ends to fit over the existing 1-1/2” pipe. Muffler clamps were used on the flared ends.

Robert,

Did you change the muffler??
Do we need this Onan muffler with the plug on the bottom ?
Or will a car type muffler be sufficient and keep things quiet??

J. Finn did your old gennie muffler work out for you???

No John I never changed the muffler, the one in the photo came with the coach and was still in good shape. I assume the plug on the bottom is to drain moister from the muffler but I never used it.

I have seen replacement mufflers like the one in the photo but don’t remember where I saw them. I know Tractor Supply sells mufflers for various tractors and may have something that would work. My only concern would be how quiet the tractor or other non specific mufflers would be as compared to a purpose built generator muffler…maybe others here may have input.

I think the muffler on your FC is made by Donaldson…here is an example I found on ebay.

Thanks to all who responded & to Jim Birkshire who sent me photos. I've concluded it is the exhaust donut on the exhaust manifold is gone. Anyone have a part number for the exhaust ring or know of the diameter of the hole. I can feel the bolt head and about an inch or so to the manifold, it feels as if one bolt has backed out completely, at least I hope so and not broke off.

I replaced my muffler 3 years ago, it's in good shape, I now need to replace the exhaust donut. My hired gun use to work at a muffler shop and he was able to match one to the Kabota for about $30. He's not with us anyone & I wish he was, he was a great wrench turner.

No donut , it is a flat flange with ears on each side.
looks like an old car block to radiator goose neck.
If it is only loose bolts and or a gasket, reach over the
top of the Kubota, and you should be able to wrench on the bolts.
working blind of course.

Do you have a part number for an Onan replacement muffler??
