Love, love, LOVE my old Perkins diesel. Easy to work on and easy to troubleshoot. The back-end Kohler part is the problem. Get a new SAE-mount unit and you're good to go. I went Brushless and got a Stamford 12.5kW. Had to make new feet for the tray on that model, but they've come out with a new one that uses the same mounting feet as the old. Noise is more a function of bad or worn injectors and poor insulation. If you're willing to get in there, lose the 220V fan and re-insulate, you can be like new and quiet for around $3500.

For $3500 I can buy a slightly used Onan 7.5 KW with 3 cylinder Kubota. Less hours, less fuel, less noise, & smaller.

Default 7500 KW Genset

We just replaced our old Onan 12.5 kw gas genset with an Onan 7500kw quiet diesel I purchased on Ebay for $3200.00 it had 18 hours use and was removed from a salvage motorhome it is very quiet. If you purchase a new or used Generator and need a good shipping company I used a company called Freight Center.com a freight consolidation company to ship it door to door Las Vegas To Winnipeg, Canada shipping was only $230.00 and it weighed in at 520lbs they were great to deal with and you can get an accurate quote online within a minute. Good luck shopping
