Default Lost 12 volt

We have lost 12 volt power EXCEPT when the engine is running.

It does NOT come on when the key is in the accessory position. We have checked the 12 volt master and we've done all the checks talked about in this thread: https://www.wanderlodgeownersgroup.c...lt+loss&page=3

We have recently replaced the 4 coach batteries and today we installed a new inverter/charger and remote. We've retraced the connections we made for the batteries and the inverter and everything seems as it should be.

On shore power we have 110 power and the inverter/charger indicates it is charging the batteries.

Any ideas?

Karen, did you lose the power before you changed the batteries,or did you lose power when you changed the batteries?
Tell us the sequence of events.

We had no issues prior to changing the batteries. We changed the batteries a couple of weeks ago and removed the old inverter/charger. Today we hooked up the new inverter/charger, new remote and set the charging profile.

We have spoken with Rick S and he had us check the solenoids under the drivers window, we checked the main fuses at the bulkhead above the battery bay and tomorrow morning our first effort will be to bypass the battery disconnect switch.

So the problem began when you changed the batteries.
It is not unusual for a cable to be left off when changing batteries.
It happens all the time,we tuck a cable behind something to keep it out of the way,and we forget.
Look in the battery bay, pull every cable, look again,i bet it shows up.

We've checked all the cables and the cutoff - everything is connected and good.

We've talked on the phone a bit more with Rick S. Does anyone happen to have the wiring diagram for the area behind the passenger footrest? I've searched the files and our blue box but nothing there I could locate.

Default Update - Resolved

We completely disconnected all of the wiring associated with the new inverter/charger. We added a second large gauge wire from the negative post of the Inverter/Charger directly to the frame and a bare ground from the inverter/charger case to the body. Once everything was buttoned back up we tested and now have 12 volt as normal.

We're still looking for a copy of the wiring diagram for the area behind the passenger footrest for future diagnostics. If anyone has access to this it would be most appreciated. We did not locate it in the WOG Files Database and it's not in our blue box.

Thanks to Rick S for talking us through some diagnostics, Randy for his input and everyone that's ever mentioned the importance of grounds.

I have the same issue on my LX.
It was this way when I bought it.
Your fix was to add a 12 volt ground cable from the 12 volt ground cable from the inverter connection to the frame to correct the Problem?

Thanks
Andy

Hi Andy - sorry for the delay in responding. We've had a sick pup and haven't been on the forum as we usually are.

When we changed out our batteries and inverter/charger we noticed there was a large gauge ground wire that had been cut. Since we weren't having any issues we didn't think much of it. With the new inverter/charger installed exactly as the old one came out (Trace) we began experiencing the loss of 12 volt.

To resolve the issue we retraced all of our battery connections, ensured they were tight and clean and rechecked the inverter/charger install and found it to be correct. We then installed (or re-installed) the missing large gauge ground which was run from the chassis to the inverter/charger and also added an additional copper ground wire to the inverter/charger which runs from the small ground post inside the unit to the compartment.

We don't know if just installing one or the other would have resolved it but doing both did.
