It almost made it to 80 degrees at the rally site on Wednesday. Even saw some long sleeves.

When you see the Pics from yesterday , and hear the stories , you will be kicking yourself for years that you were not here You want to talk about WOG family , wait till you hear about the Detroit Diesel Family , makers of most of our Engines .

to say Allen knows how to plan a Rally would be a understatement , thank you Allen . Lord only knows what he has in store for us up in the Cape this Fall , lol

There are now some autographed DD engines in the WOG group. Could have had my yellow engine signed too, but it wouldn’t have the same meaning.

Default "The big DD"

One of the highlights for all of us has been yesterdays trip to the home of Detroit Diesel engines. All of the Wanderlodges equipped with a DD/Allison powertrain have equipment that originated in this factory!

We were lucky enough to be shown the assembly, machining and testing operations by a 45-year veteran of the shop. She started right out of high school, the daughter of a long-haul trucker, who was tearing down engines at the age of 9 with her dad. She made Marisa Tomei's charcter in My Cousin Vinny look like an amateur! Here are some pics from yesterdays adventure.

Each new engine gets Dyno'd prior to shipment- This is unique to the industry. They are filled with a dyed oil and coolant and run up to operating temperature in a special cabinet. The new engines run around 38K apiece, generate close to 600HP and average 12 MPG under load.

After lunch, we all headed back out on to the floor to look at the machining operations, where differential gears, pinion gears and other components are made from castings. it was pretty darned impressive!
