Should we buy? Surface rust and clearcoat peeling

Today we are looking at a 1990 SP36 in Georgia.
The owner passed away, he was a member of this group and meticulously maintained it mechanically. As far as we know the only issue is some surface rust in certain spots on the exterior and pretty significant peeling of the clearcoat. Would love this community to let us know how much we will have to invest to fix this! And, if the surface rust is a dealbreaker. Is it something we can fix ourselves? There is some rust and corrosion around the water inlet. The metal will have to be replaced. Guide us!

pretty serious to eat a hole through a Bird.
It is always the buyers decision, how much more rust?
How good do you want to look, full paint jobs could be 15 to 25K +
Patch it and have fun, It is the mechanicals that matter,
minimum 15 k and could be more.

Yes- I think you’re right. J. Virden sounds right. Y’all know anything about his coach? I hear he was a good cook

That is a little deeper than surface rust. How many other spots on the coach look like this. What's it look like under the coach. Clear coat would be much less of an issue.

What model, year, condition and value is the coach. Any other pictures?

There are about two or three more spots that look like this but definitely this is the worst. Nothing else appears to go through the sidewall like this. The rest does seem like it is surface. We are looking at about 30,000 for the coach as is. We are not as concerned about the clearcoat for aesthetics but definitely don’t want to have rust issues if paint wears through.

Why do you call that surface rust? That is not surface rust by any definition.

Rust never stops. There is likely much more underneath and other places. I'd walkaway. There are other cleaner Birds, although older if you're stuck on 30k.
