Jim,
You might want to check for numbers on the differential if you can get under there. Maybe at the shop? I seemed to recall a metal tag on mine when I had it replaced. I got my reman in Orlando. The reman had a tag also.
Bummer that it happened away from home.

I know you are out away from home Jim, so sorry I would make sure every bearing that has been in contact with the contaminated rear end lube is replaced and the inside of the axle housing is cleaned thoroughly. One rear end replacement was one too many already

I can already see the mess, be safe!

Thanks--I'm at the shop now and they are looking for the info on the differential. I'm going to get a reman unit rather than try to rebuild this one.

Overdrive in Concord is going to rebuild mine tomorrow morning while I wait so that should get me back on the road home before the holiday weekend. $1200. Thanks to everyone--especially Neil Owens who helped me run down alternatives to compare prices to and keep the other guys honest.

Better off working with what has proved to fit in the axle housing. There can be problems with exchange units fitting, been there.

Call Weller in Jacksonville, FL. Meritor QR100, SQ100R. 3.42.

$1190 plus tax, exchange. Delivered.

BB number did not help. Jeff said this axle is what they use in buses. Quarantined to fit. About one week order to delivery.

904-757-0777. Jacksonville. Ask for Jeff.

The R stands for Reverse. Needs the Reverse, because the motor is backwards!

If the Description is QR100, 3.42R, does the "R" after the ratio indicate it is a reverse or a rear?
