I took my 91 sp36 “off road” last week...
Well, it was only for 5 miles...

But, it was sandy/washboard/hilly/gutted/washed-out/rutted/steep hills road, for 5 miles...yep, there are a few of those roads in Florida...

Don’t ask me how I ended up “off the paved road”—I will tell you that my GPS “advisor” did tell me that “RV Accessibility is UNKNOWN!”...

Maybe, I should have listened to her...

But, it certainly looked like a “short cut” to me...

OK, here’s how the event happened:

I was determined to take the “scenic route” between Atlantic Beach, Fl and Brooksville, Fl (for a weekend music festival)... NO Interstates....

the last 5 miles to the remote destination (Sertoma Youth Ranch) had a couple of options, apparently the “back door option” was not the one that I will choose the next time!

But, the “old bus” did the job!

The guys who passed me going “the other way” (in 4-wheel drive trucks) all waved and gave me the “thumbs up”! I am sure they thought I was crazy, and that they would make some money towing me later that day...

Well, I made it, and now I at least know what this old BB will do, in a crunch...

I forgot to mention that I came home on the Interstate/major roads... some of those “deep wash-out ruts” were pretty deep and intimidating (but, once you were committed, the option was backing up for 3 miles—even worse, must go forward, no real options)...

And, although I worried all weekend that my cabinets might have been “rattled off the walls”, I did not experience any “new rattles” on the way home...

Wow, these BB’s are built to well...

I bet a “sticks and staples” RV would have been permanently damaged...
The cabinets would have fallen off...

I don’t recommend “off road” use, but, if “it happens”, well, better to be in a BB!

One last comment:
The State/County don’t necessarily trim all those overhanging live oak trees to 13 feet clearance on “roads” like this... so, in addition to navigating the ruts, I had to steer around tree limbs that want to “make it a bad day”...

TAKE HOME MESSAGE: “Maybe you should listen to the GPS girl when she says something like “RV Accessibility unknown””

WELL, even the “front door” route was on 2-lane roads with 8 foot lanes—that makes it interesting too...

I did not have anyone traveling with me to take photos, so, apparently “it didn’t really happen” ...

My daddy made my mother ride in the Airstream and cook. Between the motion and the heat she would say she had puked about as much as she cooked. She ended that after a couple of trips.

Not sure if this link will work or not but I'll test it out.
This rv would be safe.
It's a beautiful build inside. We camped next to it not to long ago.
