I have no idea how long the recovery from torn rotator cuff surgery is today with medical progress always advancing. However, I do know that when I had shoulder surgery 10 years ago the recovery was long and serious. Having said that, I don't think "normal recovery rates" apply to Randy based on the quick healing he experienced on his hand injury. Best wishes Randy on a quick recovery and prayers are coming your way again!!

The pain is from the ball coming out of the socket when work overhead, theres nothing to keep it in place.
Fact is,the docs didn't think i had torn rotators, since i had full range of motion.
the body has a amazing way of fixing itself to use other muscles to work thru the pain..

hate it for you buddy.....

So,we have made slow progress but today i think we made huge gains.
When we first started the engine the first thing that happened was the fan drive belts jumped off,i used a spring tensioner to keep the belts tight and i guess it was not up to the task.
So,we did some talking and some looking and decided that a Cat 3208 belt idler would do the job,so we found one on ebay and it came on Sat.

We made a bracket and bolted the idler in place and fired the mighty Cummins up,the belts stayed in place and we got to run the engine long enough to get 180 degrees of water.

Yes,the oil pressure and water temp gauges are now working!
We hung the back barn doors and the belts and engine and everything else cleared the doors, tomorrow we hook up the tail lights and just maybe we can go for a test drive!

The generator showed up yesterday and in an hour we had fuel and a battery hooked up and filled the coolant and oil.
WE spin it over and no start.
The guy i bought if from told me it had an injector pump problem.
I got a deal so i bought it anyway.
So,it has a 3cyl Kubota engine, and we took the pump off and the rack was stuck, took it all apart and cleaned the parts with WB40 and freed up the stuck pistons, put it back on and it runs great!
This was not a job for everyone..

AS luck would have it,the genny came with a gen slide, well, most of a gen slide!
The important stuff was still bolted to the genny,it has those big rollers just like the Birds used on the WB's,they are all in good shape and the only issue is the genny slide needs to be rotated 90 degrees.
Instead of it sliding out like the PTs and WB's i need the genny to slide out sidways,so we need to rotate the slide frame and shorten it just a little bit, then we need to build the part that the rollers rool in.
some 2x2x1/4 angle should work for that just fine.
Tomorrow we get pics.

I forgot Carol has the camera!
And shes not home!
But,today was a great day,we got the gen slide al built and the genny mounted on it and the genny and gen slide are both mounted in the 71!

I bought Kohler 7kw genny with the 3 cyl Kubota, the thing is in good shape except for the radiator,i was thinking ,no way am i buying a new rad from Kohler and this rad is a special built thing that i'm sure was built just for Kohler.
So,we just took it off and tossed it in the scrap pile and last night i bought a new alum rad with shroud and fan for a Honda car off ebay for $68,new and free shipping!
So,the plan is to mount this new rad somewhere, not sure where just yet,we may remote mount it and that waywe can build a quiet box around the Kohler,we have a couple of options.
I think the best thing to do is wait on UPS to bring the rad to me,then we can place it and look at it..

Anyway, the gen slide works like a charm, you can manually push the genny in and out with ease.
Yep,no actuator or air cylinder or any of that stuff, just release the latch (if i had a latch) and pull it out with one hand (OK Rick,my left hand).

Its so cool!
Of course we have to built the quiet box and line it with the quilted stainless steel, but thats another day.
After we did all that we put the last 2 tail lights in the tail gate and the LED tag light and a WOG plaque for good measure.
Its really looking good!
We can't drive it until Carol gets home, she has to be part of that and she has the camera!
